A machine embroidery font is a set of letters, numbers and symbols digitized as stitches. Instead of printing text, your machine sews each character using satin or fill stitches.

You type your text in embroidery software, the software places the digitized letters in order, and you adjust size and position. Then you save the design in your machine's format and stitch it out.

Regular fonts (TTF/OTF) are outlines made for screens and printing. They hold no stitch data, so an embroidery machine cannot sew them directly. Embroidery fonts include stitch type, direction and underlay, tuned for fabric.

It depends on the font. Each product page lists a recommended size range. Small text needs a font designed for small sizes, so stitch a test on scrap fabric before your final project.

Yes. BX fonts with Embrilliance are a simple place to start: type your text, resize, and export. A test stitch on scrap fabric helps you check size and fabric before the real project.

BX is the font file format used by Embrilliance software. One BX file holds every character, so you type a word and the software lays out the letters for you.

Native BX is a BX font built to work directly with Embrilliance's own stitch engine. It gives you more flexibility when resizing and adjusting the lettering.

Standard BX fonts are designed for set sizes and have a limited resizing range. Native BX fonts are made for wider resizing and density control. The product page shows which type each font is.

Download and unzip your purchase, copy the .BX files into your Embrilliance fonts folder, then restart Embrilliance. The font will appear in the lettering font list.

Yes. BX fonts are made for Embrilliance (Essentials, StitchArtist and Enthusiast). Other software, such as Brother PE-Design or Hatch, cannot read BX files. Use the machine-format files in your download for those.

Yes. Native BX fonts resize within the range listed on the product page. Staying inside that range keeps the stitching clean.

Yes. With Native BX you can adjust density in Embrilliance. If your fabric is thick or stretchy, make small changes and test stitch first.

Brother machines use PES files. Choose a font pack that includes PES, or use BX with Embrilliance and export to PES.

Janome machines use JEF files, and some models accept other formats too. Check your manual, then pick a pack that includes JEF.

Many Bernina models read EXP, and newer models also use their own ART format. Check which formats your model accepts, or export from Embrilliance.

Baby Lock machines use PES files, the same as Brother. Choose a pack that includes PES.

Many Singer embroidery machines use XXX files. Check your model's manual, and choose a pack that includes XXX.

Look in your machine's manual or specifications for supported embroidery formats. Brother and Baby Lock use PES, Janome uses JEF, Pfaff and Husqvarna Viking use VP3 or HUS, and Singer often uses XXX. If you're unsure, contact us with your model.

PES is the embroidery format used by Brother and Baby Lock machines. It is also the format many hobby embroidery programs export.

DST is the Tajima format. It is common on commercial and multi-needle machines and is accepted by many home machines too.

JEF is the Janome embroidery format.

EXP is the Melco format. Many Bernina models and other machines can read it.

VP3 is the format used by Pfaff and Husqvarna Viking machines. It stores thread color information as well as the stitches.

HUS is an older Husqvarna Viking format, still used on some machines.

XXX is the format used by many Singer embroidery machines.

Yes, you can use our fonts to stitch items you sell, such as personalized towels, shirts or bags. The license covers your own embroidery business.

You may sell finished embroidered products made with our fonts. You do not need to credit us, though we love it when you do.

You may not share, resell, give away or upload the font files, in original or edited form. This includes selling the digital files as your own designs or alphabets.

Yes. After payment you get a download link on the order page and in your confirmation email. If you can't find it, check your spam folder or contact us.

Because these are digital files, we generally can't offer refunds after download. If a file is damaged or won't open, contact us and we'll fix it or replace it. See our refund policy.
